weird question about shipping

Go to solution Solved by EclipseSkye,

From my friend's experience, he just packed everything in between the clothes. The motherboard, with the CPU installed was wrapped in bubble wrap, the HSF in another bubble wrap, and the RAM in another bundle of bubble wrap. The graphics card he carried in his hand carry luggage. He sold the case and PSU before leaving.

Hi there i would like to ask since i got all my new brand parts for a computer (i have all the boxes laying on my floor) i want to transport them via airplane since i am done with work and will go back to my home the transport will be from Germany to Greece. Since a very long trip it would cost me as much as the price i paid for all the parts to ship it in any other way rather than airplane. I heard that they have something like exclusive transporting for fragile parts ..Since i heard they charge it for each kg i dont know how much its gonna cost me e.x. if they charg 10 bucks per kg and saying my parts in their boxes plus another big box to put  them all together will be around 30kg? than thats a lot of money in my opinion. A second choice would be shiping it in my personal luggage .. I can have up to 23 kg in my bag but since we are traveling 2 people i can fit the parts just fine. The problem is from my experience when waiting my bags to come out in past trips i saw some of them broken etc. So i am concerned about that too..Can you suggest me anything from your experience or in anyway give your opinion on which choice would be optimal

Well you can request fragile tags when you drop your baggage. But honestly I'd be somewhat concerned as I don't think they give much of a shit about those stickers.

Carried my Nike statue as handluggage when I brought it home from greece ^^

Another problem is that you might have to pay customs more likely if you ship them by UPS or something. The chances that you'll have to pay customs at the airport are rather slim in comparison. I'd call up your airline and ask them about a special transport of very fragile goods alongside your main luggage, so you can pick it up with your other luggage. [There's there metal containers you can book for very fragile stuff. I'd go ask ^^]

Yeah i ll probably ask since some of the parts are fragile like the monitor etc. I really hope they want charge me the 1/2 of what i paid for the computer...I thought of sending the case and the monitor back to the store ask for my money back and buy those 2 parts from greece and only send my mobo, ram, psu.gpu, hard drives, and all my watercooling parts in their boxes probably in my luggage between some clothes and some newspapers buble wrap etc but i dont know if its a wise option since they throw them like sh** and dont f**k about anything there

The parts survived the journey, oh and I forgot to mention, I think he had one of his hard drives packed with the graphics card, and he left the SSD with the clothes. The monitor he placed in his laptop bag, which counts as a separate hand carry.
