Use : wedding photo and video editing, game characters design, light esports gaming

He's asking if he should wait to upgrade his cpu to the 5000 series or getting a 3900 should be enough for his work?

5000 series wont work on the b450 boards. If you mean the upcoming Zen 3, then its only going to be a 10-15% ipc Bump at most, so unless you want to wait about 2 months for stock a 3900x would be fine. Even a 3700x would work, but its all dependant on what the programs utilize core wise.

There's stock in my area, I'll ask him to go with the 3900x then. Thanks.
