Projector not always detected

popanas

My Viewsonic PX747-4K projector is not detected most of the times when I start it.

Whenever this happens I end up having to hibernate my computer to force a logon event and it then often gets detected again.

I don't know what could be causing the issue, but here's my complete setup.

-ASUS AM4 TUF GAMING X570-Plus ATX Motherboard

-AMD Ryzen 5 3600x

-CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB (4 x 8GB)

-EVGA RTX 2060 super

As far as peripherals, including screens

-Dual 1080p monitors Asus PB Series PB238Q (both via Display port)

-Logitech G602 mouse

-Delux M516 mouse (love to switch sometime)

-Logitech K270 keyboard

-Logitech K400r (for the living room)

-Viewsonic PX747-4K (for the living room) (connected via hdmi)

Obviously I run Windows 10, and it seems the issue happens more when there's windows updates pending, but it might just be me imagining things.

Any ideas on what could be causing this would be amazing.

How would HDCP prevent my computer to connect to my projector?

You need the right cable for the bandwidth with HDCP, what version of DP is your monitor and cable? The 2060 should be the latest.

First off, I want to mention, I'm not getting an HDCP message, so doubt it's the issue.

My two displays use DP 1, and my projector is using HDMI 2.0/HDCP2.2

If what you suggest is true, my old HDMI cable would be the problem? In that case I'll buy myself a new cable and keep you posted if the issue persist.

  • 2 weeks later...

Seems to be working fine with the new cable, which is extremely strange seeing as a digital cable shouldn't have much change over time... They are just diff pairs twisted together with low impedance...

Still thanks for the idea
