Greetings LTT forum.

I'm currently building a budget PC for my relative using mostly used eBay parts.

I had an old motherboard lying around which gave me the idea to build a PC which is from a lenovo prebuilt (erazer x310).

The motherboard is called cib85m and i bought a used i4 4690k for it which worked just fine.

I also bought a used powecolor rx 570 red devil.

After installing the rx 570 i got no signal on my monitor. I tried using the motherboard HDMI port as well as the DisplayPorts and HDMI port on the graphics card but I still couldn't get a signal. I also tried using a different monitor.

(When I remove the GPU everything works just fine.)

The motherboard doesn't beep and the CPU and case fans are spinning so i recon the PC is turned on. The GPU fans however are in a loop of spinning up and stopping again so I thought it might not be getting enough power. The PSU I bought for the PC is not that great (LC6550 v2.2) so I tried using the one from my main PC (650W 80 Plus Silver) but the problem still occurred. Then I installed the GPU in my main PC and where it worked just fine

I tried disabling the integrated graphics from my CPU which didn't help and I also changed the preferred Video device in the BIOS from Auto to PCIe which also had no effect (had to reset BIOS because I had no video).

However when changing the preferred device to the integrated graphics in the BIOS I did get video. Once in Windows I checked and the Graphics card is being recognized but it was not being used. I was however able to install the drivers but that of course had no effect. I also unsuccessfully fiddled with some other BIOS settings.

I'm out of ideas that's why I started this thread. The motherboard might be the problem but I couldn't guess why as i did already have a gtx 750ti and later a gtx 1060 installed (thought that was over 2 years ago plus).

Also there were a few bent pins on the Motherboards CPU socket which i tried to bent back and the PC is running (without the GPU) so I thought its fine but maybe this could have to do something with it.

Sorry for any spelling errors.

Specs:

i5 4-690k

Lc Power Lc6550 v2.2

Crucial BX 500 SSD 240gb

This could be it. Can you try one of those previously working GPUs in the system to test the theory?

Try updating the motherboard to the latest version of the BIOS.

I don't have those GPU's anymore. I could try my precious 2070 though.

Regarding those bent pins. My CPU speed is also fluctuating a little bit (from 3.7 GHz to 3.9 GHz) and performing below average. I never dealt with bent pins so I assumed if one doesn't make contact the whole thing probably wont work.

I already searched for BIOS updates, turns out there are none.

It depends on the pins that are bent. If they are just some extra unneeded pins, or just ground, or Vcc etc then it could work fine with no apparent issue. But if it's a data pin or in this case a PCIe pin, then you could have strange specific problems, or no functionality at all.

I just looked at a haswell pin diagram. There is one bent pin i know the location of (actually the picture on my phone knows the location). According to the diagram that's an RSVD pin (if i looked correctly (also i have no idea what that means and google isn't really helpful either)). There were also other pins that were bent but they weren't that severe so I didn't take a picture.

@Ninthendo64 I had a similar issue with a Lenovo prebuilt motherboard. It didn't like my RX 480 at all.  I had to get a slightly newer motherboard for the more modern card to work.  It had zero issues with my old GT710 bit the rx480 was a no go.

Current Build

AMD Ryzen 2600

Stock cooler

Asus ROG B450f gaming Mobo

1tb SKHynix m.2

WD 1TB HDD

Asus ROG Strix RX 5700xt

ok yeah i guess i'll have to buy a new motherboard.

Thanks!

This is a Windows problem.

Probably it will work with Linux.

There are some Motherboards out there with problems detecting GPUs in Windows.

First you need to make sure, that the grafics drivers are installed correctly and maybe try it with Linux.
