So, in the spirit of Linus' cardboard case, I'm tempted to build a case out of some plastic sheet I've got around.  (I use it for making custom board game dividers and such)

It'll be a mATX case, to move a box I already own into it.

What Features should I try to build into it?  I'm probably gonna grab a plexi sheet to make a windowed door on the good side.

Styrene Sheet plastic, and if I'm doing it, it will look good.  (I'm not wasting time on a crap project.)

Well there is a lot of measuring other than that it’s airflow then the stability

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

  • 3 weeks later...

Progress. All in all I'm very happy with how it's coming together.

The dual 120s on the computer side will support a 240mm rad. (But it will heavily restrict video card length.)  Without a rad, it will support a card a little over 250mm. Given that the entire case length is only a bit past 300mm, that's not bad. (25mm of that loss are the front intake fans)

Volume is 1728 cu inches,  or about 28.3 liters.

Wheeeee!

Almost done!

I haven't attached the side panels and such. Blue acrylic for those.

Case is made from 0.118" Styrene Sheet. I may put more edging around the corners. Haven't decided yet.

4x 120mm intake Arctic PWM fans
1x 120mm Exhaust PWM fan
2x 92mm Exhaust PWM fans

Front on the motherboard side can hold a 240mm rad. (Rear cannot)

There is about 260mm of Video card clearance currently.

There's about 145mm of vertical heatsink clearance. So, there are some restrictions on 120mm coolers.

Case is basically 12" cubed. 16cm deep on PC side, and 14cm on the rear compartment.

I am planning to add a 3 or 4 disk hdd enclosure on the rear compartment still. Will need to judge based on space after the pc is installed.

Overall, since I was making it up on the fly? I'm really not upset.

I had a drill, a Dremel, and some hand tools to cut everything.
