Hey LTT forums i have a problem with my rig, sometimes while gaming my pc just freezes everything is locked and i can't do anything. If im watching something on my second monitor or listening to music i can still hear the audio but it's in super slowmode and i have to hold down the power button to shut of my pc.

I first tought it might be overheating because during the time it was very hot outside so i checked my temps and it was nothing near bad temps, and when it started happening i turned off my OC on my GPU that did help but it still happens and i don't know whats causing it and would like some help, the only thing that i had an overclock on was my GPU nothing else is touched. It seems kinda strange that turning off the OC on my GPU helped a little because of the sound still playing in slow mo and i've had no artifacting etc so it might not be a GPU problem. Some friends said that my GPU might be dying but they just like me ain't the best at tech even tho we like tech if you know what i mean, i was planning on upgrading my GPU in the near future since my GPU is getting old but i would still like to know if the GPU is the problem or if im having some other troubles on my hands.

Also right now while waiting for other games i mostly play world of warcraft and thats not even very GPU heavy and it has only ever frozen my PC during loading screens.

If any other info would help please let me know and i'll get to it.

My specs are: i7 8700k, 980ti, 1x 120gb samsung boot SSD and 1tb samsung SSD, 32gb corsair vengeance ram, motherboard is a rog maximus x hero and PSU is a 750w evga supernova.

Also a bit off-topic but im considering getting the 3080 since my 980Ti is so old and was wondering if my current setup could handle the card. Im using a AW3418DW as main monitor and some 1440p ips 60hz dell secondary monitor eagerly waiting for stuff like cyberpunk etc would a 3080 be overkill and would the 3070 be a better choice?

Hopefully someone that's better at PC's can help, thanks in advance dudes.
