switching displays

a while back i was having trouble finding the problem out, but i found out why my screen has been flickering and lagging (i think).

my display keeps switching from one display to a 2nd display (one monitor), i tested this by setting a lower resolution when it switched to the 2nd screen, and the 1st screen kept 1080p. it switches randomly and i dont know how to fix it. i think its the new drivers i have installed that are causigng this problem, because when i run in safe mode or use ddu nothing is wrong, no flickering or res changes.

 

 

edit: also going to note i have an rx 470 that is about 9 months old or less
