Screen blanking

Alex Moisan

Ok so I don't know if "screen blanking" is the right espression, but i have a problem when i play games. I think it might (90% sure) be related to Gsync. So here is a video of what happens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcZVDNY1KnE

I took the video on my phone because with a recorder my Gsync wouldnt work, so this wouldnt happen. This happens a lot when i play (it can happen up to 10-15 time per minute) and it gets really really really annoying. I also realized that it also happens on my secondary screen but also only when i play games with Gsync ON !

I tried EVERYTHING ... New cable, New drivers, Reinstalled windows, tried using only 1 screen, i verified if my GPU was fixed the right way, i tried with or without Vsync, i stopped using RTSS, Borderless, etc... nothing helped... the only thing that actually fixed it was disabling Gsync but since i paid an extra 200-300$ for this feature, id like to be able to use it :). Ive had this PC/Screen for 9 month now, and this started to happen 2 month ago.

I know how to use Gsync properly to, i use RTSS to keep my FPS 4-5 under my Monitor max refresg rate, i disabled Vsync. Everything would work perfectly fine 3 month ago ...

My Pc:

RTX 2080Ti (Fuck me i should have waited for the RTX 30 series)

I9-9900k

16gb Ram

Monitor Asus PG278QR

If no one has a clue on what is the problem, can anyone just explain me how to cleanly remove my Driver and install an older driver (it's the ONLY thing i havent tried, but i dont wanna screw up my drivers)

PS : Sorry for my bad english ^^' it's not my main language

download the driver you want, and DDU (display driver uninstaller)

boot into safe mode, use DDU, then install your driver of choice

if that doesnt fix it, contact Asus about that monitor.

It's a proper g-sync module and such an issue shouldn't happen

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

So you think it could be my monitor ? I wasnt sure about it because my secondary screen does the same to but only when i play games with Gsync on so maybe its caused by the main monitor... I just hope it's not GPU or CPU related because it would be annoying .. Do you think the video i provided is a good enough to justify a return to asus ?

I'll try going back to an older driver, let's hope it works ! Oh and do you have a link for DDU, im REALLY afraid of virus and third party software..

oh? then it might be driver/GPU issue (leaning more on software)

Well it only happens when my Gsync is working on my main screen tho ... If it's software, what could it be ? I litreally reinstalled a fresh windows to make sureee everything was fine lol

hard to say, softwares are one of the hardest thing to fix/diagnose
