I want to do some cable management on my desk to make it look nicer/cleaner.

This is my desk (just a plate).http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80251141/ with 4 legs in a frame.

This is what I plan on using: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30200253/ (not 100% sure yet).

Do you think that will be enough for just monitor/speaker cable and not much else or should I use something else?

Hell yea dude. Thats exactly what I was thinking of suggesting.

Edit:

This is what im thinkging of getting, Ive got 2 DVI's, 1 HDMI, 1 Optical, 4 Power cables..and probably a few USB's hanging off my desk and they would all fit into this thing nicely. Id probably also put my surge protector in it.

Are you limited with Ikea? I would suggest using closed or semiclosed plastic holders. Thei give bit more cleaner look. I would use that kind of thing but my cableing is too complicated for it.

I'm not limited to Ikea, just though I would show something everybody has access to. I can go to my local hardware store and pick up something there.

also you can use a rope between 2 of the legs and go to town with zipties

I want something that is a bit less make-shift and more permanent and professional.

Are they required to be screwed in the desk itself?

I would go with something like this http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-AD3X3-3x3-Inch-Wiring-Raceway/dp/B00006HQV5/ref=sr_1_57?ie=UTF8&qid=1394023241&sr=8-57&keywords=cable+management Actually that could solve my current problems also.

They don't have to be invisible, I just don't want them hanging down and being all ugly looking.

Yes, this requires you to screw it into the desk.

You Could Try this style of cable managment

That looks very organized. Are the red hooks also holding up the rack or just the cables?
