Difference between thermal paste?

I've been using the one that came with the CM Hyper 212 Evo. Does it make a difference or should I just keep using this when I change cpus?

We tested some generic stuff and some very well known stuff back when I was in my A+ class and the difference was only a few degrees between stock temps, mild and higher overclocks. Coolers were stock and a few other known ones but nothing high end. While it was not a large sample size I really doubt its that big of a difference. If you have the time just test stuff yourself and find out, good learning experience.

How you apply it will make way more difference than what one you use. 

 

The only thing I'd suggest is making sure it comes in a syringe because it's so much easier to apply. Most do anyway but it's worth making sure.

Arctic Silver 5 is kinda a classical that will give you solid performance though I have heard good things about MX-4. The difference will only be a handful of degrees though.
