Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a new computer that is on the higher end as I would like to play most AAA games on my current monitor which is 1440p & 144hz.

I would also like to use it for study purposes which contains using Building Information Modeling programs such as revit. I already did quite a bit of research and came up with the pcpartpicker list below.

I'm mainly wondering if for example the dual fan cooler would fit into the case that is slightly smaller than a full ATX tower, any suggestions buildwise are ofcourse more than welcome.

I am also aware and wondering whether it might be a good idea to wait for the new ampere cards since they'll probably be released soon but will be expected to be very expensive.

pcpartpickerlist

Thanks in advance!

I would really advise you to wait the 15 days for Ampere to launch. Even if they are too expensive for you they will reduce prices of the current generation. If you must go Intel, don't buy a 10700k, buy a 10600k. That's the only good value CPU in their entire lineup, though the Ryzen 5 3600 when you account for motherboard costs is $200 US cheaper, so it's a much better value.

If I were to go with ryzen, which chip has roughly the same performance as the 10600k?

I like your CPU choice since it is better for streaming. Six core CPUs just don't cut it for that. If you want to go AMD get eight or more cores.

Steaming performance was never important to me but now it is.

I have an 970 EVO SSD and I find it overkill for all the stuff I do except modded games.  I bought a Crucial P1 1TB for my last build and find fast enough at 2000mbs reads for all my needs.

I would go for more watts on the PSU. An i7 10700k can use up to 200 watts with an overclocked and the new video cards coming out soon my need more power.  My 2080 tis use more than 380 watts now. the new cards could use more.

He didn't mention anything about streaming, the 970 vs crucial isn't a big cost gap and I personally have the same PSU and believe 650W is more than enough for this setup.

I did not think about streaming when I bought my 6 cores but now it is a thing with me. I would rather have an 8 core Ryzen than a 6 core Intel even though it is slower in games.

A 1TB 970 EVO is $169 and a Crucial P1 1TB is $104.

I have a 2tb 970 EVO and have run test with it. It is about a second faster loading Windows than a SATA SSD. It is the same with loading games. Only my modded games us the speed but they use 8k textures.

For the PSU I was thinking more of future proofing. I use close to 600 watts with my 2080 ti setups and next gen may use more.

Why mention streaming at all if he didn't?

He already picked a 650W PSU while he can easily get 500W so it's "future proof" enough to be honest.

Free Speech.

You have your opinion and I have mine.
