Is there an open source external storage testing program?

In a very old thread someone mentioned this link to h2testw, but https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload scanned the download as malicious

I get 1/69 for my copy (98d7b2530dcd13bcd784c3a9c67b664bcd6290f6f8de0f4ff8123488f0c9bbe4; 409KB) of h2test. Assuming you have the same copy as me, you're fine; seems like one spurious false positive from a no-name malware detector. Download from here.

I am new to the forum so if this is a repeat forum post I will understand if it gets taken down for such a cause as long as I am pointed in the direction of where to find my answers. I used the search engine and could not find what I was looking for.

Originally the idea came from when I saw a Linus video on testing fake USB storage devices. They had some kind of software or program that would write to a set amount and then try to read back to check for errors. They never mentioned what they used from my recollection and I would like to have a simple, but effective system for plugging in any storage via USB connection and being able to set a write size and check for real capacity. More specifically I am likely going to be testing usb stick drives the most.

In a very old thread someone mentioned this link to h2testw, but https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload scanned the download as malicious.

Are there any open source programs for testing storage capacities that anyone is aware of? If I was good with code I could probably create a file maker or something of the sort, but that is currently out of my range of expertise.

If no program is known, are there any DIY methods that someone wouldn't mind sharing the process is a step-by-step format?

Thank you all in advance for your time.

AbydosOne, what you have said checks out. The entire process to download from your own link and the file itself scans clean except for that one false positive, but in doing some research that specific detection service (Jiangmin) has a large record of false positives. Evidence found here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/virustotal/iRq5Ojn4W8k. So for any others who may be new or skeptical like I was I do believe we have a solid solution provided by AbydosOne.

Thank you for stopping by and helping me.
