Hello everyone.

Lately, I've been getting a window that opens and immediately closes at seemingly random times, mostly at startup or when I'm playing games. I managed to capture the program icon on the taskbar (and I do apologise for the potato quality), but I can't figure out what the hell it is for the life of me. It's not associated with anything I have installed and digging through Task Manager didn't help. Has anyone seen this icon before? Better yet, does anyone know why it just opens and closes at the most random of times?

Thanks in advance.

That icon is for Windows Script Host, which is typically accompanied with an application that uses JavaScript.

Grab Autoruns from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns to check what programs are running at startup or via scheduled task. Once downloaded, go through the list and see if there are any applications that you think may be causing the popup. Send over a screenshot if you're unsure about any particular application.

Thanks for the prompt clarification, mate.

Unfortunately, I don't know the first thing about JavaScript, so I think it would be easier if I just sent over the entire list, maybe something weird catches your eye.

I should also note that after running a malware scan which did indeed find a bunch of stuff and rebooting, the icon was nowhere to be found, but whether that's a coincidence or not, I really can't tell.

ASUS likes themselves some JavaScript, you can see it running as ASUS NodeJS Web Framework. If you see it happen again, try uninstalling all ASUS software.

Gotcha. I'll try that next time I see it.
Thank you kindly.
