Hey all

I've got a rather odd problem

So my employer has asked to build a rather expensive pc,

With a couple requirements

So the general specs are as followed:

msi trx40 creator

amd 3970x

coolermaster ml360 rgb tr4 edition

kingston 128gb hyperx 3200mhz

corsair mp600 1tb

samsung qvo 4tb

2x msi 2080 super gaming x trio + msi nvlink

be quiet 1200w dark power

Ok so we build the pc installed it and it works BUT,

since i wanted to verify that everything worked i ran 3dmark.

And thats when the odd thing happened.

The timespy bench only got a score of about 11k but does see that there are 2 cards, yet another system with those 2 cards had a score of about 18k.

However during port royal it does get the same scor as the other system  wich is around 13k.

Nvlink is on and visable and the settings for 3dmark where te same for both systems.

Been testing some stuff but sofar nothing changes and i no longer know what it might be.

Hope some of you have some suggestions.

p.s. we are located in belgium

Not looking for parts advice unless it might fix the issue.

Greets

Amari

What his computer will be used for? That nvlink bridge may end actually being useless, as most software that actually makes uses of multi-gpu won't care about it. Best case scenario you'll get a 10% boost.

yes i relize that, but this doesn't change the fact it should be working for 3dmark since i had it work before.

the use of the pc is not rly the issue ( it wont actually be used asfar as i know, but its orders from the boss ;) so i just need to make it work )

May be a weird quirk with 3dmark, who knows. As you said, it did work with other benchmarks, maybe you could try some other ones and forget about that weird 3dmark result?

With Time Spy you need to break down your score to see where you are deficient.

With my setup below I usually get a score of 14.5k in Time Spy. The graphics score is 16311 and the physics score is 9023. Your graphics and physics scores should be higher. The one that is not is where your problem lies.

In my experience with Port Royal I find that my CPU overclock does not matter at all so it is a purely a GPU test. I get a much higher scores compared to others in Port Royal than I do in Time Spy since I am not competing against LN2 users as much.

It might be a quirk yes i have not use another bench sofar since i never had issues up till now.

the gpu scoré was the odd one out thats why im leaning towards nvlink issue

for the record only thing we didnt swap out yet is the bridge since we cant get a new one atm ( seems to be sold out almost everywhere)

You could give a try with mgbench or tensorflow benchmarks. Those should work regardless of the nvlink bridge.
