Looking for a gaming laptop for under 1500 US. it has to be thin. I am coming from an alienware m14x (its thick as hell). I am going to be building a desktop, but I travel a lot and need something portable with lots of POWA. I was thinking a gigabyte P34G or MSI GS70. Are there any other recommendations you guys might have?

1. What games?

2. Can you install OS/HDD yourself?

3. Why do you care about 0.5 inch more? Currently, the laptops with best thermals are not the thinnest

1. BF4 is the most trying game I will be playing, but I will also be playing lots of steam games

2. I guess, but I want a system with SSD and HDD, and for both, It would need to be msata which i cant install

3. I said INCH AND a half thick. All I care about is that it is less than one inch thick. P34G is only like .86 inches thick

2. Why you can't install an mSata? it's even easier - simply plug it in, like the SSD connection..

3. OK OK! don't get mad

4. You might want to wait for the new wave of laptops, like the Lenovo Y50. There should be thinner laptops with IPS displays

5. The only one that fits your requirements and has the highest gaming performance and cost efficiency is the P34G and MSI GE40 (which is not that available because a new model is coming)

bottom line - wait two months

2. I would prefer not to mess with the internals of a laptop, installing RAM is the extent of my abilities for a laptop. But what would you have in mind otherwise?

3. I am not mad

4. How long should I wait?

5. Can you put a link for the ge40 even though it isnt available?

6. I cannot wait any longer than middle of July, what will be the best out at that point?

Mid of July should be great. The Lenovo Y50 should be here by May

About installing an mSata drive - same as installing a ram, if there is a connection

ok thanks, and the ge40 is too thick, I could handle something that thick, but not with that construction. It would have to be all metal and boxy, Like the lenovo y410p
