How to prevent a partition from being formatted?

How to prevent a partition from being formatted or is there anyway to not to show up a specific partition on the This PC / Wndow Explorer?

Remove its letter assignment in Disk Management and it won't show in Computer but this won't prevent the device from being formatted if someone is determined enough. Nothing will. If you remove its letter you won't be able to access it without first reassigning it.

On the second part of your question - you could go into Disk management and remove the drive letter of that partition.

But, if the drive is used in any other programs (for example if you pointed something like Download in Chrome to it), these will no longer see it either.

Even that doesn't stop me from booting GParted and formatting it.

That partiton is a VeraCrypt encypted volume when I click on that partiton it asks me to format it, I am afraid if I ever accidently format it!

You just have to be careful. BTW if you press Yes by mistake it'll open the format dialog so you can still cancel there.

And if you click Format here it will still ask you if you're sure or not.
