Cannot boot or access BIOS after replacing NVME SSD on my Laptop

Hopefully someone can help me and find a solution.

I have an ASUS X571GT laptop. When I purchased it, it comes with an Intel 660p nvme ssd. I bought a western digital SN550 1TB nvme ssd to replace it. After installing the ns550, I can't seem to boot, or access the BIOS (F2) or boot to a usb windows installer. I'm stuck at an ASUS logo and the only key that is working is the power button which shuts down the laptop.

I have tried installing the latest bios version (306) as well as all the older bios version and try booting with the sn550, but still the same issue.

My laptop supports pcie gen3x2 ssd, although the sn550 is gen3x4, it is backward compatible with gen3x2 as it says in its spec sheet. And its nvme standard and m.2 socket so there should be no problem right?

I'm still waiting for asus support reply via email but im hoping someone has experiened or idea on how to resolve this.

I'm having the exact same issue, same ssd, same computer. I cannot open BIOS when I insert my new ssd. Have you found what's causing this? I have a feeling it might be compatibility issues

Hello, did you find a solution to your problem? I have the same issue after installing a cloned SSD. Thanks!

I'm currently upgrading my laptop (VivoBook K571) as well and have run into the exact same issue. I am changing to a Crucial P3 M.2 1tb.

I can not boot with original disk clones and without. I have tried two separate Crucial NVMe drives (same type) and no luck.

For the record, my original drive that is confirmed to work (as it came from factory) was a SK hynix hfb1m8m0331a

If you ended up solving this, please let us know how.
