I recently got back into PC gaming after a 13 year break.  Mostly so I could play games with my son. I had an older PC, so I decided to get something a little newer. I bought a used Dell XPS with an i7-6700 with 64 gigs of ram. I upgraded the power supply and put in a Vega 64 in it that a friend had given me. I am just not seeing the performance that I thought I would. Looking for a little help on what I can do to get more out of what I have. Any suggestions?

I was also wondering if it was the Dell motherboard that is holding me back? I do have an ASUS board I could put these parts in, although I would have to buy a different case.

I have been playing Fortnite STW with my son and a buddy. My main monitor is a Dell that is 1440p 144hz, but I only seem to get around 70 to 80 FPS. If I try and watch a Youtude or anything else on my second monitor, everything gets laggy. There are also times when just running the game can be laggy. 70% of the time it is ok, just wish it was 100% of the time.
