Hey, I am fairly new to overclocking. I am running an i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz, voltage is at 1.40 with a gigabyte z68-UD3H-B3 motherboard with a Corsair H100 for cooling, with two fans. Also 8gb Kingston Hyper X 1333 RAM.

I was looking HERE at other peoples overclocks with similar configurations and I was confused on how high to push the voltage because some people reported their voltage when under load and some reported their actual inputted voltage.

So I am slightly confused when it comes to most people saying that you shouldn't push the voltage past 1.45v with water cooling. Is that under load or actual?

So I am wondering if I just have an average overclocker or if i am doing something wrong. I am stable at 4.5ghz with 1.4 volts and everything is at default except the automatic c state settings for the CPU. I have gotten the CPU kinda stable at 4.6ghz but the voltage had to be at 1.45 and it would bluescreen after about 2 hrs of prime 95 and temps never exceeded 63 c.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

That voltage seems way too high for that overclock, my chip does 5ghz on 1.38v. you cant get 4.6ghz stable then i think it might be your bios, with it being an older board. Do you have the lastest bios on your motherboard ?
