Pk-1 + H60

Go to solution Solved by LinusTech,

It is possible you applied too much or too little. PK-1 should perform pretty much the same as the stock paste.

Here's a thermal compound installation guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2p6Hk4IfqI

is this normal with prolimatech pk1? i changed my thermal paste of the old h60 which ive been using for a year to prolimatech pk1. ive noticed that my idle temps (32-35 deg stock paste. 35- 42 deg with pk1) were 5-8degrees higher than the stock paste that the cooler came with although load temps seem to be the same... did i do something wrong? i used the pea method in applying. tnx

that does seam strange but if you did something wrong it would stand out when you have a load on the cpu as the temps will go alot above the out load temps. I am assuming the temps are low enough at load that the Vcore is not throttled back. nope it helps

No if the load temps are ruffly the same it just means the stock paste was better at dispersing the heat when it was at lower temps.

I wouldn't be worried unless you see a 10-20 degree difference when under load.

Have you run any benchmarks to see if the temps are actually the same?
