Been having some frustrating audio issues with my pc lately where at random times the audio from my headphones will cut out and when I look at my volume mixer its as if the headphones were disconnected. I'm using the front panel audio connector. The moments where it happens is very random, it could be fine for like a day and then it cuts out for 2 seconds 3 times within a half hour span and then like 3 hours later it starts happening more frequently constantly cutting out to the point where i have to restart my pc for it to go back to normal.

When this first started happening, my audio would get distorted (hard to describe but it would fix itself after unplugging and replugging my headphones) or restarting my computer. I noticed it happened mostly after waking up my pc from sleep mode so i stopped using sleep mode after it started happening and it was fine for a while until one day after a fresh boot, the audio was distorted again. Frustrated, I uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers and that problem cleared up but now I have the audio cutout problem.

The most recent driver I installed "Realtek HD Universal Driver (include Nahimic Driver)" makes the audio cutout duration shorter but still hasnt fixed the problem.

also I dont know if this is related at all but around the same time this all started happening, people started telling me that my Mic is very quiet and they could barely hear me on discord. I turned my mic volume up all the way and its fine for a while and then it goes quiet again seemingly randomly as well. Again, might not be related but its still frustrating nevertheless.

My specs are

WINDOWS 10 version 1909

MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon Motherboard
Ryzen 7 1700

Nvidia Gtx 1660 Super

Does the same problem occur when connected to the audio ports on the back of your motherboard?

i'm gonna try that next if it happens again. The last thing i tried was check and secure the front panel audio connectors. because this issue is very inconsistent its gonna take a while to see if it fixed anything.

Yeah I would do that first.

In case nothing seems to help, you can get one of those $10 USB to audio adapters. It's basically a DAC. That should certainly fix the issue.

have you checked the cords i know i just had a get a new head set because the cord broke at the plug and my stero sound would go in and out plus i would get feed back over just very low audio try repluing in everything and then just lightly moving the cords around the plugs you might just have a bad cable happens all the time but drives people nuts and i installed xm studios in dc so i have been around my fair share of audio eq
