Do you want to do something and your current router is not enough for that? Or you discovered some bugs that never will be fixed? If not - stay with whatever you have.

But there is also other factor - do you need something more? Better configuration, stronger signal, additional features etc? Maybe remote control or good VPN support?

It all depends on your needs. If you have too much money and don't know what to buy, I recommend something else if your router works fine.

Only looking because of the age of the one I am using.I have a lot more things using the wifi now. I have also noticed downloading on steam is faster on wifi than ethernet as well

I don’t see anything that you would benefit from much unless you are looking for something really specific.

That is weird that WiFi is faster than LAN. Router shouldn’t cause that issue as the ports on the router is gigabit. Can you make sure the LAN card on the computer supports gigabit? And also make sure that the Ethernet wire you are using is Cat 5a or above.

I am using cat 6e cable and lan on motherbord is a gigabite port. I am having few issues with the motherboard so maybe another issue. On lan i am getting 1mbps on wifi i hit 160mbps. The router does everything i need. I was not sure if things had moved on with them.

Interesting. Are you facing the same issue with other PCs connected using LAN?

There is always something new. That’s why I started with WiFi 6 as that’s something that’s slowly coming along but not all phones support it and more over, you will need to change the WiFi adapter on your PC, to support WiFi 6. Other than that, unless you have a specific requirement like VPN server or client running on router, router based ad blocker or better signal, there wouldn’t be any need to upgrade. You could look into a WiFi 6 based routers once more devices support it and you have a few devices that support it as well.

If I connect either of my msi laptops they run fine and get around 200 mbps. I will stick with my old router if not much has changed. It just works and nevr fails. I think it is an issue with the motherboard. I get constant problems with usb devices not working when I first boot and usb rescources errors as well. I have given up trying to rma. Asus say have told me to rma via currys and currys say asus.

That is annoying. As long as you have currys receipt, you should be able to get it through them. You could also try downloading the latest drivers from the Asus website and see if that works. You could also get a pcie Ethernet card for 20 to 30£ as well if you really want to make the link faster.
