Budget (including currency): £400

Country: United Kingdom

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming - HOI4, Cities Skylines, Stellaris

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Having just watched the LTT video regarding the $500 I've plucked up the courage to copy it, however I had not quite realised how awful the suppliers are in the UK, so i'm really looking for help to see if i've done things right?

this is my list, my current system is an OptiPlex 380 'smush' build - upgraded following some of the many tutorials online to give a... fair.. playing capability (on low) so I already have the Barracuda HDD, but im just astonished that the price im looking at is nearly £550? is there nothing I can do to find cheaper of these products?! I'm honestly pushing my budget with 400 - am I better just buying it piecemeal? any help (even if a brutal  "that's the way it is chump!") is appreciated!

Cheers,

Power supply i've never seen a white one and imo bronze is always the best spot. I think people overdue efficiency and it tends to matter more with streamer or 24/7 systems and for budget the relatively small increase in powerusage is worth it. The ssd I personally think 120gb is the only real point unless you go for a full ssd rig (or full ssg besides footage etc). Its enough space for OS, programs, launchers, and maybe your favorite game.  You said you already had a HDD why is there one of the list? I don't live in the UK so if I look for stuff it would take me a bit.

That psu will give you a tasty deep-fried cpu, gpu, and motherboard. Not sure if you really want that

It's not about UK suppliers, but instead taxes for the most part.

Do you need all that storage, that would be one great way for you to cut some budget, also go for a cheaper PSU.

CEX has some better pricing on that GPU, second hand but comes with two years warranty.

the guy is asking for sub 400GBP...

Personally I don't think sun 400 is a good price point, grab an old workstation/prebuilt and throw in a GPU is my suggestion here.

Agreed, or buy used parts. Not sure what retailers you have, but used 6,8,and 10 core xeons should be easily findable

You can grab this.

Offcourse you probably should pick up a used GPU instead. That allowing for the 3100 and Pro-VDH being used instead.

The fatality board may not habe the correct bios revision. As such that may have to be updated.
