I'm mounting a motherboard on a wooden base I just want to know what is the safest way to do so. 

What should I know before installing the motherboard on a wooden surface?

I've thought about that but never went into doing it myself.  Pau's hardware did it and he used I think long standoffs and inserted them into the wood to mount his motherboard.  You could also use some wood insert and screw the standoffs in the insert.  Not sure if it works well tho.
