Performance Issues / Weird Odds & Ends

Update - SOLVED...

Ran the Win10 May 2020 update and cleared CMOS.

Looks to be back up and normal again.

Folks,

Recently upgraded to an ROG 5700xt from ASUS, overall its working great but I had notice a few issues before/after installing the card - I was a bit lazy so I used the Windows repair tool to wipe the OS and reinstall but a few issues persist. These bugs in Windows are minor headaches but I feel like I'm not getting the regular performance I'm used to.

Let me preface this by saying I wanted to upgrade my PSU - it's an older thermaltake 750watt bronze PSU I used in a mining rig (non-stop for six months) before running it on an AM3 board as a gaming tower (fair use) for about 3 - 4 years before using it on this primary build. The fan has gone a bit wonky and gets loud before I can't hear it any more, TBH I have no idea if it's still working (this is relevant for issue #2)...sooooo I opted for the Corsair RMX White Series (2018), RM850x, 850 Watt as a replacement.

THE ISSUES:

  1. Wifi disconnects when coming back from sleep / will say it's connected to the network but in reality it isn't - the card is an ASUS PCE-AC68 (with latest driver installed)
  2. I started cranking video settings to high/max/ultra when I threw the 5700xt. I haven't noticed any issues except in more recent DX12 games like BF5 or COD:War Zone - after about twenty minutes of game play the graphics will start to studder. I noticed a similar issue in League of Legends, but the system corrected itself quickly. Temperatures seem to be inline and fan speed/tuning is all on default (no OC)
  3. Sleep Mode - this has been odd. I usually quit a few apps that I don't want to come back online when I put my computer to sleep, but when I do I've noticed that the system will go through the steps, screen will go blank but then my fans will start cycling through their max settings and my RGB on the Corsair Hydro.

As a total aside:

  • the RGB on the Crosshair VI and H100i keep changing colours ever so slightly / not remembering the config
  • I updated the BIOS recently to the latest version, I eventually want to grab the Ryzen 9 and throw it in this system.

And is it just me or does most of the software from some of these companies (Corsair, ASUS) kind of suck?

Looks like CPU-Z keeps crashing too, so might just do a full wipe.

yeah, maybe.

I don't see how the Sleep issue would be caused by the AMD driver or anything else - this was not an issue prior to installing the new card.

I'm going to keep digging into it.
