Garbage After Effects Performance

I'm editing a music video and I'm in After Effects 2020 for it. I shot it in Braw 12:1 60fps 3840X2160 and timeline playback is really really bad. I have it set to quarter res and 30fps skipping 1 frame and it's still really laggy. I haven't applied any effects and it lags like I have 4 heavy ones applied. Playback at full res in Premiere is seamless and simply depends on the speed the storage device it's pulling from. Any optimization tips would be nice. I might try exporting it to prores and trying as I'm not sure if AE has the same kind of Braw support Premiere does. Otherwise it could just be my CPU as my workflow has bumped up to 240MB/s 4K opposed to 30MB/s 1080p.
