Questions regarding cable extensions

I bought a set of cable extensions for my first build recently. I noticed today that one of the cables in the extension was pulled out. However, I was able to push it back in and it 'clicked' into place. My question is, is it still safe for me to use the cable? Will it cause a short or any problems? Or should I buy another extension? It's a PCIE 8pin power cable.

You should be fine. If my understanding is correct, all the black plastic piece does is offer a sort of shroud to keep your cables protected, in order, and allow them to properly plug in, etc. As long as there's no visible damage IMHO you're good to go.

nah your good. how it got put together is either a machine or a guy in china jamming the crimped ends into the plastic shroud. as long as the metal crimped end can contact the plug ur good.
