Limiting Programs/Tasks to a Particular Network

Hey LTT folks, 

 

Just wondering if anyone knows a fix for a problem I've been having. 

 

Im running a LAN via Ethernet/Router between two computers in an office, which provides us a fast and stable connection for the program Autodesk Revit.

This program does not work well with a wireless router for synchronizing, it takes too long and can lead to corrupt files. 

 

However we also rely on a WiFi network for our internet. 

 

So we are usually connected to both. 

 

Is there a way to prevent Revit from trying to use the wifi network to synchronize and communicate? 

It causes constant slowing and blot outs the program frequently until we disconnect from the WiFi, at which point it works near instantly after. 

 

Would appreciate even just a link or being pointed in the right direction, as I can't seem to find anything.

Might just be my poor choice of keywords / incorrect discourse.

There is software for this but probably faster to set the interface metric of the ethernet adapter to be lower than the wifi adapter.  This makes the one adapter be "first" for priority.

A quick hit setting the metric to be higher appears to be successful - I was just able to synchronize in Revit within 5 seconds, which is usually 2-3mins by wifi. 

Will continue to work with this and let you know!

The Metric solution initially provided by AnonymousGuy has worked flawlessly, I'm connected to the internet without any hassles at all!
