File transfer from old pc

I recently got my old IBM Aptiva Windows 2000 professional working and I wanted to transfer the files to my laptop. Is there a way I could do this? Also I don't have any usb flash drives it that's what your gonna recommend

the old PC has an hdd with 7gb of storage

Can I hook it up with a network cable?

Maybe you can try uploading all the files from the old on to a cloud provider like google drive then download them on the new one.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

It's got a port for it but I can't connect it to my router because my router is across the house.

can I connect the Ethernet cable to my laptop from the pc and use it like that?

Never tried it but this seems to do what you need.

Without buying a usb transfer cable which might not even work or just getting a usb drive. I don’t think so.
