External hard disk as primary

Hi guys I'm using Alienware 13r2 my hard disk was not working so I diagnosed the problem for myself and found that hdd connector were wore off and one the wire were been cut I was not able to find spares for my laptop.

I want to know that can I convert my internal hard disk into external hard disk using hdd casing and use as my primary hard disk.

in bios you can switch from hard drive to usb flash drive to boot off
