Damaged HDD (probably)

So i've been having issues with my HDD, don't know, what is it caused by or if its the hard drive or the PSU
Its working half the time, it's getting disconected and im getting blue screens whenever i hear a "clicking" sound, kind of like a clock.

I could usually get it to work by unplugging the sata and the psu cables but now it seems like the psu cable has been fully damaged because it is not working anymore, and i had to switch for another one, which made it work in the end.
Now, what should i do to test for the cause of the issue? and if the hdd is causing the issue, should i get a new one to not damage another cable on the PSU?
(Sorry for my bad english, might be hard to understand.)

HDD is a WD Scorpio
PSU is a silentiumpc vero l2 600w on warranty till 2022

That's sometimes known as the click of death. Back up everything you can and prepare to replace the drive.

Sounds like the click of death. backup immediately and get maybe an ssd to replace it. It will make your system much more responsive.

Sounds like you just wore out the connector.. they are not meant to be constantly unplugged and replugged in so its likely just worn out.

It could be, but that wouldn't cause the clicking.

 

Just plug in a different SATA connector if you're worried about it. Also feel free to upload a picture.
