Linus and SpeedTest

I saw Linus installing 10gbps and doing a speedtest on Ookla and complaining that the server on other side is maxed out on 3gbps. Does he not know that his browser is being maxed out and not the other side server?

As explained here https://www.speedtest.net/insights/blog/10-gbps-speedtest/ most web browsers cap at 3gbs. But you could use the speedtest desktop app to avoid this limit.

 

I don't know why but this 3GB limit has been around for a long time both in upload file size and speed limit using browsers. Might be a reminiscence of the 32-bit here maybe?
