So today i bought an I5 3470 took it home replaced it with my old cpu applied thermal paste and then put a cooler on top, but this was my first time changing a cpu so it was a bit messy (and what i mean is that cooler slided around couple of times because it has screwes on the corners so it wasnt so easy) , but i still managed to put it together and thats when i pressed the power button and nothing happened, the cpu coolers and all the fans were spinning but i had no display at all  not even the mouse or the keyboard was lighting up, then i switched to the old cpu G620 (i tried this twice) but everything was fine. ill be really sad to find out that i damaged it cuz i was saving up money for it for a while but yeah help pls <3

Did you make sure you had an Ivy Bridge compatible BIOS for your motherboard?

I i don't even know what that means ;( i wanted to update my BIOS but the site says that if you don't know what you are doing then you shouldn't update the BIOS

Go to your motherboard website, download the latest bios, and follow the instructions to install it. Congratulations, you now know what you're doing!

When your system came out the 3470 hadn't been released yet, so there wasn't support for it included on motherboards. Updating the BIOS will fix that.
