Hello, my motherboard is Asus B85M-E and I've been using i3 4330. I bought used i5 4590 updated my BIOS to the latest version (3602) and then installed new CPU. PC turned on but my screen didn't show anything. I installed my old CPU and it works. What can I do to fix this problem?

Is the new cpu used ?

I would assume it's used

Did it work when you saw it ( with the seller )

What PSU do you have ?

Sounds like the i5 is bad, likely a broken processor. If you bought it used without testing it, it's possible. The motherboard being on the latest bios and working with the i3 just fine points to the i5 as the issue.

Yes it was used. I don't see any mechanical damage. I don't know about inside of this CPU. But if it is damaged my PC shouldn't even start, am I right? My PSU is Corsair CX500.

It is most likely a broken cpu like what @SpookyCitrus said

Contact the seller and tell them

im not entireley sure. a few years ago i was using a Sandybridge (2nd gen) Pentium G870 on an lga 1155 h61m board and i bought an i5 3570k as an upgrade which was also lga 1155 but it wouldnt work when i turned it on whilst it was installed. no bios, no display. just fans spinning aimlessly. i then found out that the 3570k was ivy bridge and needed a newer motherboard so i got a z77 one in the end and it worked. the difference is, your new cpu is the the same gen as your old one and if it isnt working on that motherboard then i suspect a dead cpu. maybe try find a friend who has a b85m motherboard and try the cpu in there to check if its broken or not. another solution would be to clear CMOS/BIOS, remove ram, storage and gpu then try booting it to see if you get any sign of life. good luck.
