So i'm in the process of ordering my new ASUS GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5. And the website i'm ordering it from advises a minimum of 600W PSU with this GPU.

But the max power usage under full load is only 318.4W.

So what formula do they use to measure the advised PSU wattage?

They say minimum because they are calculating the use from the whole rig with one crappy psu which isn't efficient.

600w as in, the cheap OEM PSU with like a 60% efficiency(im being nice) you actually only need like a 450w(it has to be like 80+ titanium though) to run it(dangerous), and less efficient power supplys like gold or platinum around 550w should do..
