Hey All

I just grabbed an 8tb IronWolf and noticed its idle temp is around 47C. I read around and found that temps like that on that drive are somewhat normal, seeing even that Seagate has said drives are ok up to 60C. I'd love to have some air flow over it but with the case I have it isn't really possible (Lian Li o11 XL).

I read a little bit about helium drives etc, how they might be a little cooler up in the 10-12tb drives.

Is that only in NAS drives from Seagate, WD etc?

Would running something like a 10tb Barracude Pro run cooler then the IronWolf?

Am I ok just to run with the 8tb Ironwolf at those temps, even though I'm not really using it for NAS, it's just a desktop drive being used for storage?

Thanks for the help!
