Never actually mined anything so I'm new to all this. It's more out of curiosity than not. So for mining, is using a 6850 viable for mining?

Definitely. Anyhow, I still have my old 6850 before I upgraded to a 660TI. So I might as well put it to use and mine. I saw a post come up about the inflated 7850 prices due to mining. So it gave me this idea. Up until now, I only thought the newer R9 seres mine well.

So after reading a couple post, I'm wondering if it can mine more than it uses up power.

My dad has one in his PC and it only gets like 230kh/s

What's the threshold to actually earn some profits? (based on the fact that it's approx. 8 cents/kWh here)

you could try putting it in cross fire if you have another rig and see if that helps
