Just Overclocked, I Think?

Go to solution Solved by Jumper118,

Ok Thanks, one more thing It says its 4ghz in CPU-Z when I Prime-95, when I turn off Prime-95 it will go back to its turbo 3.7ghz, so I presume when I turn turbo off it will go back up?

yes, it should stay at 4ghz when turbo is off

So I just set my CPU Multi to 20 and made sure my CPU Freq was 4ghz saved and exited bios. BUT CPU-Z says im still at 3.7ghz and that the multi is 18.5.... Is CPU-Z Wrong?

if you dont know what you are doing please dont bother overclocking

before you overclock read some overclocking guides

Turns out when I Prime 95 it reads my overclock, I believe the issue may be related to having Turbo boosting on still in the bios.

when overclocking i normally turn everything power saving or turbo off. i keep the clock and the voltage fixed as well, that way its as stable as it can be.

So you think turning the turbo off will aid me? So far played BF4 for a bit then went to Prime 95, been prime 95ing for 50 minutes now, no issues.

yes, because if your turbo is slower than your oc then it becomes pointless and hinders performance.

Ok Thanks, should I continue my prime 95 for another hour or so and then turn it off?

i never bother running it for more than 30mins if its going to crash it'll probably happen sooner rather than later. some people do it for 24hours but unless you are folding or mining that is quite pointless. run it for 4 hours max i would say.
