No expert here but im pretty sure most if not all intel cpus or atleast the ones on recent years on ddr4 max out at 2993, it should work with faster ram no reason for it to not work but its the point of diminishing return, youll just get maybe  1-3% difference but thats it, and youll pay much more compared to 2993 ram.

faster ram than 2993 is recommended for ryzen, ryzen cpus love fast ram the faster the better, they take full advantage.

Just got the i7-10700k, and I've never really used fast RAM before, and I noticed it only supports up to 2933mhz DDR4. The motherboard I got for it supports up to 4600 mhz (or so).

If I got 3200 mhz of DDR4, would the computer boot like normal?

If so, I assume the CPU can only access RAM at a max of 2933 mhz, right?

Ironically, 32 GBs of 3200 mhz is cheaper than 32 GBs of 2933 mhz right now. Thanks for the help!
