Computer black screening when installing updates

Hi I just finished my first build and I'm having trouble with the windows installation. After I install windows and load it it seems stable. Once I connect the Ethernet cable, after a short while the screen goes to black and windows will no longer boot. I can run it in safe mode w/networking and use the internet, but I can't install updates which is what I'm assuming is crashing the computer.
