Hey

I have an Asus Rampage IV Extreme mobo and I have one GTX 660 in the 2A PCIe (2nd red one) and another in the 3'rd PCIe express (3rd red one) and the the top one (2A) is x8 and the one below that (not 2b the next red one from 2a) is x16. The one i have my HDMI currently plugged into is the second card, which is not the primary and is causing a lot of issues.

Why didn't you just put each card both in a x16 slot?

I didn't have enough space.

Why dont you just plug your HDMI into the first graphics card?

Because its x8 and I get pink flickering in full screen games when the primary card is x8 and the second card is x16, I don't know why.

Does anyone know how I can change the PCIe bus speed or change the primary card because when booting, I cannot see the bios menu and choice to get into the bios options come up because its display that in the first card. The screen is pretty much black until its booted into windows; windows has it set as a primary card, now i just need to do that for the bios somehow.

Thanks :)

Any help would be appreciated :)

bump please rlly need this

There is no way to change or limit the speed of the PCIe slots, the 8x slot has half the number of physical connectors compared to the 16x slot, if you look closely inside the slot you will see the missing metal contacts.

Im guessing that your CPU cooler is restricting you from using your first PCIe slot, to which I'll say that it will probably be better if 1.-you get a different cooler or

2.-just use 1 GTX660 or

3.- sell your SLI 660 and get a single more powerful card

I hope this helps, if anyone knows any more info please let OP know.

Thank you very much, what other gpu's do you recommend I get? I'll take the second one i got back which I bought for $230 and sell the other one for $200, giving me a total of $430

There is a 2gb 770 for $430 reckon I'll get about same performance?

the gtx770 outperforms the 660s and you'll have a slimmer framing range( more constant fps) but I think there should be some cheaper 770s out there, where are you looking to buy?

We have to know where you are buying, to give you a good suggestion.

for example in my country AMD is still the BEST price/performance out there, while in the USA that is not the case.
