the only stepping stone i see is between the mobo and the cpu, need to update bios before that cpu will run properly. otherwise nice and solid.

MAX Motherboards come 3rd gen Ryzen ready from the factory so i wouldn't worry about that.

But i would worry about the crap quality VRMs,also B450 is a dead end due to a recent announcement from AMD.

I would either wait for B550 or outright buy a X570 board.

@Vishera to go to the X570 you are doubling the price of that mobo. which pushes past the budget range. Is there another model you would look at though?

Is there any reason not to go for the 450 even though it will be superseded?
They are planning to use the system to game but would not be doing much, if any, overclocking.

@next3ngl is that the 450 in general having some strange bs with them or is it that mobo specifically?

That motherboard is cheap crap - I wouldn't expect much out of it.

If you want a decent B450 board the B450 Tomahawk Max is very good and can handle a 3950X if you want to upgrade in the future.
