Mac OS parallels windows 10

I’m looking at the MacBook 16 in base model, I want to use parallels to run windows on it. The base comes with 16gb of ram should I upgrade to 32? Can parallels perform well with 8gb dedicated?

You should definitely get 32gb. 8gb is ok for most light to moderate uses but it’s not great. Also consider that in a couple of years newer software might require more RAM to run.

 

My 13 inch MacBook Pro has 8GB of RAM and it’s not enough. The system runs smoothly but if I have multiple things open and open Photoshop Elements, then photoshop doesn’t run smoothly.

Thanks, yeah that’s a very good point.

You mean running VM? Because if you run Windows on bootcamp, its not dedicating RAM for one both OS separately. OS running is using all the available RAM.

depends on what you want to do with your windows vm,

parallels is VM software, so yes it would be a virtual machine. 

 

 

to answer the OP, it depends. i've been fine with using a 4gb Windows VM for basic things in the past since my Mac has 16gb, but if i was doing heavier things i would quickly run out.

With word being so close to parallel and there being so many non-native English speakers, that wasn't obvious.
