I have just bought an 8GB Radeon Vega 64 GPU however when I install it, I am getting no image on my screen when plugged via HDMI. I have an MSI B450M PRO-VDH (ATX) motherboard, 32GB RAM 3200mhz, AMD 2400G with a 1200w PSU.

The GPU appears to be lighting up with fan spinning however no picture

Is my board too old for this card? This system has been stable with my previous 1060 card.

Any help would be appreciated

I believe your motherboard is newer than your graphics card, so that is definitely not the issue.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

Do you have the latest form for the GPU

And that 1200w PSU how old is it and what 80 plus rating does it have ?

Board should be fine.

If I'm not mistaken, that CPU has integrated graphics, if you have a monitor or adapter for the ports on your motherboard, you can try and get a display signal from that. Try use that to install the drivers of the graphics card with the Radeon software.

Something I should also mention is that when I had my Vega 56, (not a 64 but close enough), it kept BSOD'ing because I plugged in the two 8 pins from the same cable. You should use separate cables.

Try updating to the latest firmware for your GPU and ddu your nvidea drivers and install your amd drivers

Edit : I remembered you can't display an image so you can't ddu

Try using your integrated GPU is you have one and see if windows detects the GPU at the least

So... I can see it in device driver when I used on board graphics so I downloaded and installed the drivers and it then started with tons of interference. It would show normally, then static, then green then normal again in the space of 3 seconds continuously. I thought maybe this was due to using onboard and a graphics card. Changed bios again to boot from graphics card and totally nothing. I bought this card second hand - I'm struggling to see that I'm doing anything wrong so I don't know if it's the card that isn't working now

Did the seller say anything about it being used for mining or how old it is ?

It said it was in good condition and had hardly been used as he used his PS4 more than his computer. No mention of mining or how old it was. Guy has 100% feedback on his eBay page Screenshot_20200508_224823_com_ebay.mobile.thumb.jpg.0274427420af61620c7994b04febd591.jpg

No, that's literally the ad. I thought it would be alright since it wasn't used much and not oc

I still don't want to say it's dead as there is still hope

And I don't want to throw shade at the seller but if possible (if you can contact the seller ) maybe ask them how old it is and if you can maybe rma if possible *if we don't find a clear diagnose*

did you plug both PCIE power cables into the card from the same cable? (i mean, the daisy chain?)

if so, use two separate PCIE power cables from the PSU

No, I've used separate cables from a modular power supply. I've tried several different cables too just in case the cables were knackered

I really can't think of something at the top of my head right now that's why I ended up saying if possible rma it but for the mean time if there is anyone with better ideas than me ( which I guarantee there is )  I don't have any other idea for this

I'm sorry

i would reseat the whole GPU and all plugs. Ensure the other end of the PSU plugs are tight. the ones that go into the modular PSU. make sure its in there good. i have found sometimes when nothing appears wrong this fixes things.

does your bios have a method to disable onboard graphcis?
