So I recently bought a new psu, cpu, and mobo

Ryzen 9 3900x

MSI x570-a pro

when trying to boot into windows from my old m.2 drive and w/ my 1tb hdd i got it to work but then when i shut down my pc to see if my hdd was plugged in correctly(disk manager didn't seem pick up the drive) when i turned it back on i get red boot led on the mobo and in bios it doesn't seem to be detecting even my m.2 drive now.

if you need further clarification I'll gladly give it.

Clear the cmos. There will be two pins just above the bottom full size pci slot. Bridge those pins. Then turn the computer on. Make sure to turn the psu off first

can you fully clarify what you mean? couldnt i just take out the little battery to clear it?

you can take the battery out for a few seconds, I just prefer the pins method

so after clearing it, it still doesn't detect my m.2 drive or hdd. before it stopped working i was in a windows update @ 24% and left when i came back it was completely off i let it sit for like an hour and then turned it on and it just automatically goes to bios

If your computer turned off during the update it could've corrupted the windows install. I would re-install windows. This should work, if it doesn't, it may be a drive issue

I missed a few troubleshooting steps, sorry. If it's the m.2 that's your boot drive, try other slots. If the hard drive is the boot, then try different sata ports. If that doesn't work, try turning ahci on. If it don't work, turn it off. If that doesn't work, let me know

try other sata ports, or another port on the psu if it doesn't spin up. it could also be the cable, so change that to see

uh idk yeah nothing working

If the drive turns on (it spins up and makes noise) when you turn the computer on, it might be a motherboard issue. You could try updating the bios, chipset etc.

if it doesn't spin up, it's either the drive's dead, or there isn't any power so try to use another sata port on the psu
