Hello, I am trying to build my first pc. My current pc is a pre-assembled HP with an intel i7-7700 cpu and nvidia gtx 1050 2gb gpu and I am planning to build a more powerful pc that will last a few years without becoming obsolete. Below I've listed the components I was thinking to buy.

I'd like some advice on a few things:

First of all, I have a 1080p 60hz monitor and I'm not planning to buy a new one immediately, so I've opted for a rtx 2060 for now and maybe upgrade it in one or two years with the new nvidia 3000 series and a new monitor.

I play mostly offline games, like the witcher or assassin's creed for example, so I don't need 100+ fps, but I like to play at high graphics settings.

The question is: will the rtx 2060 be enough to play the next one or two years games at 1080p 60 fps high settings (also considering the new DLSS 2.0) or I should save money on the cpu and buy an rtx 2070 super?

Also I was wondering wether the 3900x is too overkill for gaming/video editing and some multithreaded programming and if it would be better to just buy a 3700x.

And I have a last doubt: is the 3900x stock cooler sufficient with no overclocking (and the automatic Precision boost overdrive) or will it thermal throttle and reach too high temperatures with the risk of damaging the cpu?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Budget (including currency): 1300-1400€

Country: Italy

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming, video editing and programming

Other details

-CPU: AMD Ryzen 3900x

-GPU: RTX 2060

-RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 GB

-MB: MSI B450 gaming plus max

-PSU: Corsair TX550M

-SSD: Sp Silicon Power M.2 512 GB

-Case: be quiet pure base 600 mid-tower

3900X is way overkill, I don't think new builders realize just how robust the AMD lineup is.  The 3600 is a 6c/12t solid workhorse that would do everything you need it to.  So yes,  the 3700X is more than enough, whereas the 3900X is just spending too much (even if it's cheaper than the 9900K).

Get the 3700X and get more GPU or storage, I recommend.

Yes, I also think the 3900x is a bit overkill today, but do you think 3700x will age well? I was planning to save money on the gpu for now since I have a 1080p60Hz monitor and maybe buy nvidia 3000 series along with a new monitor in one/two years, but I'd like a CPU that will serve me well for at least 3/4 years.

3700X is a 4-5 year CPU IMO.   We are in a state of more cores/threads, but the programs/games need to then scale up.  By the time 8c/16t is having issues, it'll be a good 4-5 years I think.

Think about how a 4/8 CPU (7700K) still handles itself very well, and how we have lived on 4/8 for almost a decade now.

Actually the ryzen 7 3800x doesn't have a price so it might be more costly than you expect

The price is about 40-50€ higher than 3700x if I remember correctly, unless I buy from 3rd party sellers on amazon, but at least for cpu and gpu I prefer to buy directly from amazon just to be safe in case of damaged product or other problems.

But apart from that, I've read over the internet that 3800x (105W TDP) performance is only marginally better than 3700x (65W TDP), so I would probably need to buy a dedicated cooler rather than using the stock one.
