Hey guys, so recently my friend decided he wanted to build a pc and i was thinking about upgrading a little anyway so i'm selling him my motherboard and cpu. I'm thinking of buying a 2080 super in a month or so, so i'd like to get a cpu/mobo that will be good for it. My main use of my pc is gaming and i Play on  a 1080p 144hz monitor, but may upgrade to 1440p 144hz soon. Main games i play are Cod:Mw, rust, Csgo, Ark:SE Witcher 3. I'd like to be able to get 144fps at ultra if possible on new games.

I'm after some help as to what i should upgrade to as i'm honestly lost.

My current build is:

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4r87gJ

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62 Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX X470-F Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB WINDFORCE OC 8G Video Card
Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400S ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair CXM 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply
Monitor: Acer XB241H bmipr 24.0" 1920x1080 180 Hz Monitor ( I  believe it only ocs to 180hz? it's base highest is 144hz. Unless i clicked the wrong monitor but i'm pretty sure this is it. )

I'm looking at these currently and would like to know if there are any alternatives for my price range.

I don't really want to spend more than 800 AUD but if necessary i could maybe go 900.

This is the 2080 super i'm looking at as well. Any input on it or a cheaper version would be great!

Any reason why the 3700x over 3600? From what I can see they're very close in terms of specs and a bit of a jump in price.

Oh, I didn’t notice that it was a $200 difference, normally in the US it’s only a 100. An extra 2 cores and 4 threads is a nice to have but for $200 there’s no point unless you need it.

Ahh okay thanks, also I believe I need a no go with a display port for my monitor to run at 144hz as it doesn't support 144hz on hdmi? Am I right on that or?

Also any reason why the ryzen over the Intel? When I compare the 2 on a cup comparing site it tells me the Intel cup is better for gaming?

Sorry for all the questions but thanks for replying.

Well the i5 9600kf is a 6 core 6 thread processor, while the ryzen 5 3600 is cheaper and is 6 cores and 12 threads. The i5 has a slightly higher clock speed but they will perform similar. Ryzen is better for $50 cheaper.
