I use a ROG GX502 with i7-9750 and Nvidia 2070. The screen is a 3ms 240hz screen. The cooling and performance is fine when I do normal tasks but when I play games, some weird things happen.

When playing Rainbow Siege 6 and Destiny 2, the frame rate is OK (100 to 120 fps) for most of the time, but every now and then it locks on 30 fps for several minutes, then return to normal.

What can be the issue here? In the Nvidia control panel I set the preferences to performance, and I have vsync off.

The graphic settings in both games are medium to low. I ran the benchmark in RS6 and the average frame rate was around 105. But when I actually play the game, the situation I described would randomly happen

yes but what is the game resoultion at? (720, 1080, 1440?) When does it lock at 30, large heavily rendered environments with many things to rpocess such as people or graphical effects or just randomly?

I am pretty sure it happens randomly. For example, I can be in the same environment with 120 fps, and then it drops to 30 as I simply move around for a little bit or aim down my gun.
