HELP, only 50% ram usage
1 hour ago, KingTing said:Hey guys! I've been having some trouble running games on my computer and I think its cuz of my ram. idk if this is important but here are the specs of my computer, its a prebuilt from bestbuy(i got it when i first got into gaming and had no clue what anything was).
- i5 7400
- 1060 3gb
- 16gb 2400mhz
- odense 2-k (motherboard)
When ever I'm doing anything, the ram always stops increasing at about 50%, in the range of 46 to 51. How do I fix this? All 16gb are recognized by the computer, both in taskmanager and bios.
When I'm playing my computer has a very tough time rendering in the environment, even on all lows, and I can't do anything. And these are not super complex games either.
What should I do?
Hey Mate, as the others have said. This could be normal, if you are still concerned, download this utility:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24075/Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-Intel-XTU
That's a tool commonly used for Overclocking Intel CPUs, but it can also be used to run multiple stress tests, these Do Not push your resources past their limits, but push them to their limits. So it's very safe provided you don't purposely change any tunings.
One of the tests you can run is a memory test, this will show you if your system is actually using up all of your memory. And I can almost guarantee it is using all your memory correctly.
If your memory/CPU is bad, then you would receive Very noticeable freezes and system crashes. This would include full system freezes, blue screens and random system shutdowns.
Variables causing different levels of RAM Usage:
- Memory usage is dependent entirely on the application/game and the application/game developer. RAM is just hyper-fast temporary storage, it stores assets within RAM so it can can access them extremely fast throughout application usage. Your game may not have any further assets to store in RAM.
- Page File - many applications use the page file to store information that would normally be stored in RAM, but doesn't need to be accessed as frequently/rapidly.
PS. Feel free to send me a message or leave a reply if you have any further questions/concerns
