Thoughts On Synology Ds209+ii

Hello LTT Networking geeks. :D

I'm currently considering investing in a used DS209+II as a new home for my two RE4-GP's. I appreciate the fact that it's not hotswap bays, as I am gonna extensively mod the exterior. What are your thoughts on the internals? Speed, software, reliability, everything. :)

As far as i know Synology is a well regarded brand. iSCSI is a great feature, infact the thing is like a server in a box.

And reviews seem to back it up: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/nas/nas-reviews/30944-synology-ds209-and-ds209ii-reviewed

What are you mainly going to use it for ?

I'd say go for it :)

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

Are you not going to run out of storage, maybe look into a 4 bay NAS ?

Even when running my 2TB drives in RAID1 I'll never manage to fill them up, I'm not much of a pirate. ;)
